Green with envy? We are green around the gills ...

Leroy has been remiss in his blogging duties.  But be advised,  it is much more fun and eventfull to live the experiences than write about them and so that is why.  But I have moment now so I will try to catch up a little.

Two days ago, on our first full day at sea, the sun woke up on top of our balcony railing.  It sat there just for a moment as it took control and chased the darkness away to wherever it is the darkness goes in that endless chase that has been going on since the earth began.  Neither one gaining total control over the other.

The seas were quite rough the first two days as we were heading south.  We had a very strong crossing wind and the ship was tossing about like a toy in a bath tub.   Vialula was not a happy crew member and to tell you the truth, I was a little green around the gills and it usually does not bother me.  But with a pill here and  patch there, things were kept under control.

As you might imagine, the majority of the contestants in this race around the world are, shall we say, a little bit past their prime.  Hardy nontheless.  We have several breeds of four-legged rolling  aluminum ponies that travel the hallways in herds around here and it is quite fun to sit back and watch the rolling ship determine the path their riders take.  It looks like a swarm of birds all changing direction as one.  Sway to the left, sway to the right.   Back and forth, covering twice as much ground as they would.    It hasn't stopped any of us from finding our way to the various restaurants to feed.

So after 2 days of this, we land in Santa Marta Columbia.   It already seemed funny to feel the motion stop but I think everyone was glad it did.  Vialula and I had picked out a trip to Tyrona National Park as our shore excursion.  So with backpacks full of every possible device we might need, sunscreet, towels, camera and two Yeti water bottles full of water we made our way down the gangplank to our awaiting bus.  I am thinking that I was carrying an extra 60 pounds or so of stuff....most of which won't see the light of day.    But,   live and learn.   I think I am going to let Vialula tell you all about the day.   But LeRoy ranks the trip an 11 out of 10 so far!  More later, so go have a wonderful day for now.
